BBC Digital Posters
In the lead up to Mipcom, CUMI animated a series of 20 digital posters for the BBC's latest programmes, including Doctor Who, Human Planet, Frozen Planet, SILK, Zen, Sadie J and Wonders of the Universe. Existing poster artwork was modified, visual effects applied, and elements re animated to match each programme's own branding, using After Effects and some traditional animation techniques, with just 4 hours to complete each poster. The finished animated posters were displayed on multiple screens at the BBC's Mipcom exhibition booth.
The Brief
The brief was simple. Bring each poster to life in a mixture of different ways appropriate to the style of poster and tone of TV show, and only spend 4 hours on each poster.
What CUMI Created
CUMI modified each programme's existing poster artwork, applied visual effects, and re animated elements to align with that programme's own branding, using After Effects and some traditional animation techniques. We used stop motion to animate balls of paper opening up and rigged some puppet animation for some characters. Each poster was provided in layers so we could pull elements apart but some were flattened so we needed to recreate all the elements.
The Film
Twenty posters. Four hours each. One exhibition booth.
